December 5, 2013 USCPF HOSTS LUNCHEON DISCUSSION WITH CIISS DELEGATION

On December 5, the U.S.-China Policy Foundation hosted a luncheon discussion on U.S.-China military and strategic relations at the Cosmos Club. Guests participated in an active and candid informal discussion between both U.S. and Chinese military experts. USCPF was joined by a delegation from the China Institute for International and Strategic Studies (CIISS) while they were in Washington, DC. The delegation will be led by Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Zhao Ning, Vice Chairman of CIISS. CIISS provides research and analysis from military officers and scholars on subjects such as the international strategic situation and China’s national security interests.

November 23-December 1, 2013 NOVEMBER POLICYMAKERS TRIP TO CHINA

The U.S.-China Policy Foundation led our third 2013 Policymakers Trip to China from November 23-December 1. This congressional staff delegation visited Beijing, Shanghai, and the Jiangsu Province cities of Nanjing and Changzhou. The trip highlighted Chinese government, commerce, and development. The delegation consisted of senior staff members from both houses of Congress, Republicans and Democrats, and representatives from all regions of the United States.

November 12, 2013 USCPF’S 18TH ANNUAL GALA DINNER

The U.S.-China Policy Foundation hosted its 18th annual Gala Dinner, China in Washington, on November 12, 2013. The gala, celebrating USCPF’s 18th anniversary, took place at the historic Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in downtown, Washington, DC, from 7pm to 9pm, with the pre-dinner reception beginning at 6:30pm. The dinner recognized the ongoing efforts of USCPF and others to improve U.S-China relations. The Foundation was honored to present Dr. Lien ChanHonorary Chairman of the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) and Ambassador James Sasser, former U.S. Ambassador to China and former U.S. Senator, with awards for their years of public service.

August 28, 2013 USCPF HOSTS PANEL DISCUSSION ON TAIPEI-BEIJING-WASHINGTON RELATIONS

On August 28, 2013, the U.S.-China Policy Foundation was proud to host a panel discussion exploring Taipei-Beijing-Washington relations. The discussion, which was followed by a luncheon, took place at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. The panel discussion featured Dr. Richard Bush, Bonnie Glaser, Alan Romberg, Dr. Robert Sutter, and Ambassador Raymond Burghardt, all world-renowned experts on the triangular relationship between the PRC, Taiwan, and the U.S.. The panel was moderated by Dr. David Lampton

August 4-14, 2013 AUGUST 2013 POLICYMAKERS TRIP TO CHINA

The U.S.-China Policy Foundation led another congressional delegation to China during the August congressional recess. USCPF’s most recent educational Policymakers Trip to China was a success. This ten-day trip, hosted by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), took senior congressional staff members to Beijing, Qingdao, and Dalian.

July 24, 2013 USCPF, AMB. CUI TIANKAI WELCOME AMB. LU SHUMIN

On July 24, the U.S.-China Policy Foundation and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China held a dinner welcoming Ambassador Lu Shumin, Executive Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), and members of his delegation during their visit to the U.S. The dinner took place at the PRC Embassy and was hosted by Chinese Ambassador Cui Tiankai.

July 11, 2013 USCPF HELPS WELCOME CHINESE S&ED DELEGATION

On July 11, 2013, the U.S.-China Policy Foundation cooperated with the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the U.S.-China Business Council, and other organizations to host a dinner welcoming China’s delegation to the fifth round of the Strategic and Economic Dialogue. China’s top two S&ED participants, Vice Premier Wang Yang and State Councilor Yang Jiechi, were the guests of honor.

June 10, 2013 LUNCHEON AND DISCUSSION ON USCPF’S MILITARY DELEGATION TRIP TO CHINA

On June 10, the U.S.-China Policy Foundation hosted a luncheon discussion of the April 2013 Military Delegation Trip to China. The luncheon took place at the Cosmos Club and was attended by members of USCPF’s board and representatives from area think-tanks and universities. Maj. Gen. Xu Nanfeng, the Defense Attache of the People’s Republic of China, was also present as a honored guest.

April 19, 2013 DR. CHI WANG BOOK SIGNING AT GEORGETOWN

On April 19, 2013, Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies’ Graduate Liberal Studies Degree Program hosted a book signing event with USCPF President, Chi Wang.  Around 40 people showed up to the event at the Faculty Club, which was open to students, faculty, and the general public.

April 14-21, 2013 USCPF MILITARY DELEGATION TRIP TO CHINA

From April 14 through April 21, the U.S.-China Policy Foundation led a U.S. delegation to China on a series of Track II dialogues to strengthen U.S.-China military relations. The delegation consisted of USCPF President Dr. Chi Wang, Ambassador Chas W. Freeman, Jr., and Admiral William J. Fallon. The delegation spoke to former and current government officials and military officers in Beijing and also visited Qingdao and China’s North Sea Fleet.

March 27-April 5, 2013 SPRING 2013 POLICYMAKERS TRIP TO CHINA

In late March, during a congressional recess, the USCPF left for China with another congressional delegation. The Policymakers Educational Trip to China program was, once again, a great success. The USCPF took a diverse group of senior staff members, from both the U.S. House and Senate, on a ten-day educational tour around China hosted by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA). The delegation spent time in Beijing, Guiyang, and Shanghai.
