November 19, 2014 USCPF 19TH ANNUAL GALA DINNER

The U.S.-China Policy Foundation celebrated our 19th anniversary with a black-tie gala dinner on Wednesday, November 19 at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington, DC. As this year’s gala dinner coincided with the 35th anniversary of U.S.-China diplomatic relations, it held special significance.

October 4, 2014 PRESIDENT CHI WANG HONORS A CHINESE PRESS PIONEER

USCPF President and former head of the Chinese Section at the Library of Congress Chi Wang spoke at Columbia University in New York for the launch of A Pioneer Remembered: A Biography of How Zoen Fong (Xia Ruifang, in pinyin). The launch was in collaboration with a symposium to commemorate the 100th anniversary of How Zoen Fong’s passing.

August 2-12, 2014 AUGUST POLICYMAKERS TRIP TO CHINA

At the start of Congress’s summer recess, USCPF led a delegation of a dozen senior Hill staffers to visit Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. The delegation was composed of staff members from both the House and Senate and both Democrat and Republican parties. They represented a variety of districts, from New York to California and Texas. The theme of this delegation was Energy and Commerce.

May 30, 2014 LUNCHEON DISCUSSION WITH THE CPPCC

On May 30, 2014 USCPF hosted a luncheon discussion with a delegation from the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington D.C.  Ambassador Chas Freeman Jr. served as moderator of this event with many notable scholars, businessmen, and government officials attending.  Topics discussed included China’s urbanization reform and suggestions for the U.S.-China Relationship.

May 27-28, 2014 ADMIRAL FALLON REPRESENTS USCPF AT SYMPOSIUM

Admiral William J. Fallon, former head of the U.S. Central command and U.S. Pacific Command, represented the U.S.-China Policy Foundation at The International Symposium on Security and Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region. The Symposium, held in Beijing from May 27-28, was a public event bringing together over 100 military, policy, and academic experts from across the globe. Participants from at least 19 different countries took part in the event.

May 12, 2014 DR. CHI WANG HONORED BY CUHK

On May 12, 2014, USCPF President Chi Wang received an honorary fellowship from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Wang was recognized for his contributions to the university during his time as a faculty member there, as well as his general lifetime achievements in library science and the improvement of US-China relations.

April 13-23, 2014 APRIL POLICYMAKERS TRIP TO CHINA

From April 13-23, The U.S.-China Policy Foundation led another successful Policymakers Trip to China. The spring delegation traveled to Beijing, Kunming, Lijiang, and Shenzhen. This trip focused on China’s development, education, and government. The delegation was made up of senior staff members working for both houses of Congress, representing Democrats, Republicans, and Independents and various different regions of the United States.

March 27-30, 2014 USCPF AT ASSOCIATION FOR ASIAN STUDIES CONFERENCE

This year the U.S.-China Policy Foundation participated as exhibitors at the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) annual conference held March 27-30, 2014 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. USCPF was one of the exhibitors in the heavily-trafficked AAS Conference exhibit hall. Events like these allow USCPF to continue our engagement with academia and bridge the gap between university organizations and the non-profit work we do.

March 13, 2014 USCPF HOSTS RECEPTION FOR AMBASSADOR MAX BAUCUS

On March 12, the U.S.-China Policy Foundation hosted a reception congratulating Senator Max Baucus on his appointment as the new U.S. Ambassador to China. The reception was held in the Chinese Ballroom at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel just a couple of days before the former Senator moves to Beijing to officially take up his new post.

February 24-25, 2014 USCPF HOSTS DELEGATION OF CHINESE SCHOLARS

The U.S.-China Policy Foundation was joined by a delegation of Chinese scholars from February 24-25 in Washington, DC. Hosting this visiting group from China gave the U.S.-China Policy Foundation an opportunity to promote increased U.S.-China understanding through people-to-people exchanges and dialogue.

January 21, 2014 USCPF HOSTS LUNCHEON HONORING DONALD TONG

On Tuesday January 21, the U.S.-China Policy Foundation hosted a luncheon at the Cosmos Club honoring Donald Tong’s completion of his assignment as the Commissioner of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO).
