Mr. John L. Thornton

John L. Thornton is a Professor and Director of the Global Leadership Programa the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management in Beijing. He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Brookings Institution in Wahsington, D.C. Mr. Thornton is a director of HSBC Holdings PLS and a director and non-executive Chairman of HSBC North America Holdings Inc. He retired in 2003 as President and Co-Chief Operating Officer of the Goldman Ssachs Group and as a member of the firm
