USCPF Luncheon
Welcome Senator Chuck Hagel
The U.S.-China Policy Foundation is delighted
to welcome Senator Chuck Hagel to the foundation as a new Honorary Advisor.
Senator Hagel's interest in Asian Affairs and his continuous efforts to improve
relations between the United States and other Asian countries coincides with
our foundation's overall goals, and his membership on the board will be most
valuable.
Chuck Hagel was elected United States Senator from Nebraska in 1996 and since
then has served as the Deputy Whip for the Republican Party. He sits on five
Senate committees that include: Banking; Housing and Urban Affairs; Energy
and Natural Resources; Budget and Aging; and the Foreign Relations Committee,
on which he is the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific
Affairs. Senator Hagel also sits on the Congressional-Executive Commission
on China.
Prior to his election as senator, Hagel served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army's
9th Infantry Division, cofounded VANGUARD Cellular Systems, Inc., was C.E.O.
of several organizations, including the Private Sector Council in Washington,
D.C., and was President of McCarthy & Company in Omaha, Nebraska.
Senator Hagel's dedication to public service and his many accomplishments,
as well as his fair and objective approach to complex issues, are commendable
and we look forward to his future involvement in the foundation.
